Tell us about your work in the Love is Color Anthology.

A poem written in first person narrative; “Healer” is an intimate exchange between lovers. Taking a risk by shedding another layer of themselves in the beauty of vulnerability; they share pivotal moments that led them to wholeness and eventually each other. It is her turn to speak…

Who or what inspired the work(s)?

My heart, mind, body and soul were the unintended recipients of a major deicing after enduring a cruel winter. I am forever inspired by the embers that reintroduced me to my voice; reminding me not only who I am, but Whose I am.

What writer, poet or artist inspires you the most and why?

I am smitten with raw writing; especially those writers who’ve mastered the art of storytelling, no matter the genre or creative expression. I’m intensely intrigued by what challenges me because it fuels me to strive for greatness while considering life from a different angle. A few of my favorites range anywhere from Nina Simone, Malcolm Gladwell, Brady “Phanatik” Goodwin, Audre Lorde, husband and wife songwriting team Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Stereo Williams, Nina Skies and everything in between.

What’s next for you?

I envision myself as a published author, motivational speaker and singer/songwriter who is free from the fear of success and unhindered by every speed bump I empowered to become a stumbling block. I’m excited about this next leg of my journey and as I often say, “I don’t know what tomorrow holds but I know I’ll be holding a pen”.

Brooklyn NY native Ericka Arthur, is an Inspirational blogger, speaker, singer/songwriter and poet. As the host of the Inspiration With E Radio Show on GrindHard Radio, she frequently shares her love for different cultures, music and her unwavering burden for Suicide Prevention. Self described as “an open book written in invisible ink”; Ericka is known for her sincerity, sense of humor, candor and wit.

A fearless wordsmith who writes with the thinking heart in mind, she was a contributing writer in Feminine Collective’s 2017 release: “Love Notes From Humanity: The Lust. Love and Loss Collection”. Ericka credits God for the gift, childhood diary keeping for the consistency and her Junior H.S. poetry class for the initial stirring of her pen.
