This week’s entry for the LoveRotica Book Challenge is an Urban tale written by Ava Grey called Keesha: Trials, Tribulations & Heartbreak.
Here’s what I think:
Keesha had everything going for her. She was successful in her career, had a fine man and loving friends and family. What could possibly go wrong?
Well, the man she was head over heels for was too immature to make a permanent commitment after six years of dating. She had forgiven Trae one transgression and her gut was telling her he was up to his old tricks again.
She should have listened to her intuition, because she was right. She saw his betrayal with her own eyes, causing her to wreck her new car.
I will give it to her. I thought for sure she was going to forgive his and take him back, but she held strong and stood her ground.
This was a short story and a quick read. I enjoyed Keesha’s grandmother and would like for her to have her own book. She was a riot. Her BFF was cool too. I really didn’t connect with Keesha’s though.
She is described as a person who doesn’t care about money, but everything about her screamed that’s what she was all about. She was into designer clothes, fancy cars, expensive restaurants and even the way her condo was decorated. Don’t get me wrong, it is fine to have those things, but why mention them so much if she didn’t care about flossing. I gave this one 3 kisses.
Now the author wrote a follow-up from the male perspective and I read it too, because it was so short. That one got 3 kisses as well.
“A Man’s Perspective by Ava Grey”
This was just a one chapter long explanation of why Trae cheated on Keesha.(Keesha: Trails, Tribulations, and Heartbreak)
Just as I expected, Trae was a trifling little boy who wanted his ego stroked by some new young thang while breaking the heart of the good woman he had at home. This fool admitted that he knew what he had at home, but that didn’t stop him from screwing his co-worker. He committed two violations: Don’t cheat on your woman and Don’t defecate where you eat.
Just plain old stupid! And then he has the nerve to say he’s going to get her back. When a woman is done with your trifling ways, she’s done! Boy bye!
